Ferrari Media Director James Ferrari

James Ferrari has worked as a director at Ferrari Media in New York City since 2005. He has helped develop, produce, fund, and direct several projects including Mouthful of Air, Returning to Earth, and Maladjusted. His vision for the company involves creating a space where the mediums of art and science can coalesce and enhance collective intelligence. James Ferrari is also the founder and chief executive officer of Citizen 007 Media.

James Ferrari expanded his professional activities in 2009 when he founded Tribal Truth Media, which he serves in the position of creative director. Under his guidance, the company promotes a range of multicultural projects, from music to photojournalism. His responsibilities in this role include interviewing featured subjects and organizing events to promote Tribal Truth Media projects.

A member of the Foreign Policy Association, Mr. Ferrari studied political science at Hunter College. He was a judge at the United Nations Mentor Capital Networks Competition in 2015. His organizational affiliations also include the Aspen Institute and the Collective Intelligence Conference.

Ferrari is an early investor and advisor in socially and environmentally conscious businesses. In 2017, he got involved in Aspiration, a financial tool that helps people and companies fight climate change, spend sustainably, and measure one’s carbon footprint. Among many others, he is also an investor in Simpliphi Power, a company that manufactures clean and affordable energy storage systems by utilizing non-toxic lithium ferro phosphate, and in Bonumose (a company the Hershey corporation recently invested in) innovating new and rare healthy natural sugars.

Since 2014, James has fostered an interest in the fusion of technology, social science and economies. He regularly attends global conferences that share ideas from fields relevant to understanding and designing collective intelligence in its many forms, such as the MIT Center for Collective Intelligence, the MIT Media Lab, where James is a regular participant, the MIT Bitcoin Currency Lab, and the Data-Pop Alliance project, a joint initiative to leverage the new ecosystem of big data in order to improve ownership and safety of one’s data. The goal is to empower people in a way that avoids the pitfalls of a new digital divide, de-humanization, de-democratization and privacy.

Ferrari in 2023 participated on behalf of the Boston Global Forum at the United Nations on Tuesday, where he discussed the rise of disinformation and misinformation and the threats AI technology poses to that end at this critical juncture in technology’s rapid evolution. Among other speakers were some of the world’s top minds in the field, including Amandeep Singh Gill (United Nations Secretary-General’s Envoy on Technology), Nguyen Anh Tuan (CEO of Boston Global Forum), Thomas Kehler (Chief Scientist of CrowdSmart), Shyamal Sharma (Brandeis Scholar) and Bui Thuy (renowned singer).

When he is not managing activities at Ferrari Media, Citizen 007 Media, and Tribal Truth Media, he pursues continuing education opportunities in the areas of technology and politics.
